A Few Words by a Graduate – Wing Yan Tsui
Wing Yan Winnie Tsui, 2022 graduate of Bachelor of Social Work (Honours)
As time flies, my 4 years’ college life eventually has come to an end. My heartfelt thanks go to all the teachers, internship supervisors and colleagues who I have encountered for their guidance. Not only did they arouse my interest in learning, but also they broaden my horizon. From my point of view, learning how to raise questions is the pre-requisite for gaining knowledge. Learning to ask good questions is paramount: the more you asked, the more you could learn. Therefore, the more you learnt, the more exposure to various scopes of knowledge I have. I would like to thank once again for teachers of Nang Yan to provide opportunities for me to formulate eloquent questions and guide me to ask quality questions from which I obtain most benefits.
Looking back to the past four years, I consider it a tough process. Insisting on showing up to the tutorials and lectures every night was energy- demanding and required a lot of resilience. Fortunately, we had compassionate teachers who could accommodate our concerns during lessons so that we could keep learning till the end of the lesson. Throughout these four years, I am glad to have teachers and students who worked hand in hand. For example, we submitted our assignment to our tutor at midnight for comments. We only expected that the tutor would come back to us the day after for feedback. I It came as a surprise that he replied us at 2 a.m. of that night. We finally learnt that our tutor replied us promptly in order to spare some time for us to modify our work as he fully understood that we had a tight schedule. We were so touched that our teacher was aware of our needs by putting himself into our shoes.
In the course of my learning at Nang Yan, I was pregnant with some chances of presenting my project with my expected son which was an extraordinary experience. While I was once in the exam, I got a sense that my baby moved inside the womb and kicked me, sounding just like my baby telling me that he knew the answer and tried to help me! My sincere thanks again go to teachers who did extra work for me as a special student so that I could successfully handle my family matters as well as my study during my internship.
